Gilbert Kleiner, FSA - Executive Director

Before coming to the Jacksonville Jewish Center, Gil had been the Executive Director of Beth El Congregation in Baltimore, MD. since 1989. He holds a Master's Degree from the American University Kogod College of Business Administration and is a Fellow in Synagogue Administration having recieved his certification in Jerusalem, in 1994 from the North American Asociation of Synagogue Executives.

Gil has served as president of the Mid-Atlantic Association of Temple and Synagogue Administrators and is a past president of the North American Association of Synagigue Executives. He is founder of Adat Chaim congregation of Reisterstown, Maryland and was its second president in the mid-1980's.

RABBI JIM ROGOZEN- Head of Galinsky Academy

Rabbi Jim Rogozen is the new Head of Schools at the Galinsky Academy.  Prior to coming to Jacksonville, he was the Chief Learning Officer at United Synagogue. Before that, he served as a Headmaster in Jewish day schools for twenty-six years, the last nineteen of which were at the Gross Schechter Day School in Cleveland.   A graduate of the Joint Program between UCLA and the University of Judaism,  Rabbi Rogozen earned his BA in Psychology; BLitt in Rabbinic Literature; and three MAs—in Teaching, Educational Administration, and Jewish Studies. He was ordained by the Jewish Theological Seminary.   Rabbi Rogozen has continued his learning at Teachers College, Columbia University; the Harvard Principal’s Center; and the Mandel Leadership Institute in Jerusalem. He served on, then chaired, the Schechter Day School Professional Council, and is a past board chair of the Schechter Day School Network.  Rabbi Rogozen was a mentor in DSLTI (Day School Leadership Training Institute) for the last two cohorts.   Rabbi Rogozen is married to Marci Rogozen, who teaches Jewish Studies in the Martin J Gottlieb Day School. Their daughters, Nehama and Aviva, are alumni of Gross Schechter Day School, USY and Ramah, and were Ramah staff members.

LOIS TOMPKINS- Religious School Principal

Lois has been the principal of the Bernard & Alice Selevan Religious School at the Jacksonville Jewish Center since 2002.  She is also staff coordinator for all Adult Education for the congregation.  Lois began her professional journey in Jewish education at Beth Shalom Congregation (Jacksonville) in 1990, first as a teacher and then as the Religious School’s director from 1995-2001.  She has a degree in Secondary Education, but continued her education to focus on learning disabilities and special needs in elementary education.   She has been married to Bob Tompkins for 31 years, and is the proud mother of two sons, Ben and Alec, and her dogs, Shmoo and Cannoli.

LORI SCHOETTLER- DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND OPERATIONS

Lori has been part of the Jacksonville Jewish Center for 23 years. She has worked in all different areas of the Center.  One summer she was a camp counselor, and even substituted 5th grade!  She currently is the Director of Finance and Operations.  Lori has 3 wonderful kids who all attended the pre-school and the day school.  In her spare time she enjoys crocheting and reading while cuddling up on the couch with her lovable cocker spaniel Lady.

BRENT GANEY- FACILITIES DIRECTOR

Brent Ganey is the maintenance supervisor.  He attended FSCJ for electrical theory studies, commercial arts & culinary arts and Whitney M Young Job Corps Louisville KY for construction electricity. He has a varied background with 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, hotel and restaurant management, culinary arts, mechanical maintenance and renovations, and property management. Brent is single and enjoys art, sculpture, music, and boating.
