May Is Mental Health Month

RE:MIND hosts Adult Mental Health First Aid Training, an eight-hour course, as 3 sessions on May 1, 8, and May 25, 2017 starting at 7:15 PM at the Jacksonville Jewish Center.  Registration is required-- click HERE to register online or email [email protected] or call 904-731-7887.

This 8-hour course uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to offer initial help in a mental health crisis and connect persons to the appropriate professional, peer, social and self-help care as well as learning warning signs of specific illnesses such as substance abuse, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, schizophrenia and more.  Click HERE for more details, including free CEUs.  All course training fees have been paid by Jacksonville’s non-profit hospitals—Baptist Health, Brooks Rehabilitation, Mayo Clinic, St. Vincent’s HealthCare and UF Health Jacksonville.

During May, the Jacksonville Jewish Center Yergin Gallery will exhibit “Inside Out,” a visual journey through mental illness. Exhibit participants bravely express candid works of art that convey to the viewer what it feels like to struggle with diagnoses such as depression, anxiety, OCD and bipolar disorder.

The Center is among many sites where Mental Health First Aid training will be held.  To schedule a class for your Group or to find another class to attend, write to [email protected] or visit jaxmentalhealth.org.
