Pride Shabbat

First Ever Pride Shabbat at the Center!

Join us on Shabbat Morning, Saturday, June 22, at 9:00 AM for a special Shabbat!

Judaism teaches human beings are created b'tzelem elohim - in the image of God. At the Jacksonville Jewish Center, we welcome you in the religious, social, and educational life of our congregation and believe each individual is essential to our success as a synagogue and a community. Our FIRST EVER Pride Shabbat service celebrates equality and inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, transgender, and questioning Jews, friends, families and allies. We'll hear from two of Jacksonville's own who have paved the way for making our local communities more open and inclusive.

Our Shabbat morning speakers will be Frieda Saraga, beloved congregant and a trailblazer for LGBTQ rights in Jacksonville and Jimmy Midyette, Staff Attorney for the ACLU of Florida in Jacksonville, Co-Founder Jacksonville Coalition from Equality and Board Member of JASMYN.

In celebration of our first Pride Shabbat, those who would like to make special rainbow challot for our Shabbat kiddush are encouraged to join us Thursday evening, June 20, at 7:30 PM. Those who wish to bake that evening should RSVP to Rabbi Rosenblum at [email protected]by Tuesday, June 18 to ensure enough supplies.
