The Jacksonville Jewish Center embraces our tradition’s time-honored values of K’vod Ha-briyot (respect for other human beings), loving our neighbors as ourselves, and believing that every single person is created in the Divine Image. In this spirit we cherish those of our members who are LGBTQ, and welcome all members of the Jewish community, their partners and children, regardless of sexual orientation. We celebrate joyous occasions of same-sex couples/families (e.g., baby naming, brit milah, bar/bat mitzvah) openly and inclusively. Our synagogue also uses inclusive language on its membership and school application forms. In accordance with the decisions of the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards of the Conservative movement, our clergy will perform weddings for Jewish same-sex couples, and are available for counseling and queries on matters of halakhah (Jewish law).
